Donald Trump and his MAGA lackeys in Congress are plotting to gut Medicaid and rip away health care access — a move that could also cost the economy 1 million jobs, according to a new report. While Trump’s economy tanks and the odds of a recession continue to rise, Trump’s plans to scam the American people out of their health care will also cost them tens of billions of dollars. 

Donald Trump and congressional Republicans’ plans to put Medicaid on the chopping block for 79 million Americans could also slash 1 million jobs nationwide and cost tens of billions of dollars.

“[P]otential budget cuts to Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program could trigger severe economic consequences across all 50 states and the District of Columbia. If implemented, these combined cuts could lead to one million jobs lost, a $113 billion decline in states’ gross domestic products, and $8.8 billion in lost state and local tax revenue in 2026 alone. …

“477,000 healthcare jobs would be eliminated, impacting hospitals, nursing homes, and doctors’ offices, due to reduced Medicaid enrollment and revenue losses for health care providers. Another 411,000 jobs would be lost in other businesses, as losses ripple out through state economies.

“State and local tax revenues would drop by $7 billion due to lower business and individual income from job losses, exacerbating fiscal challenges for states.”
