Republicans Across the Country Have to Face Reality As Constituents Voice Their Anger About Trump and Musk’s “Make America Corrupt Again” Agenda

Republicans are taking heat from their constituents for not standing up against Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s destructive agenda in town halls in deep red districts in Georgia, Wisconsin, Alaska, and Oregon

America is turning against Donald Trump and Elon Musk – including the people from the very districts that voted for Republicans last year. In deeply red House districts in Georgia, Wisconsin, Alaska, and Oregon, constituents are already raising alarm bells over Trump giving Elon Musk and DOGE unlimited and unchecked power to harm communities. People across the country are furious that Trump and Musk abandoned their campaign promise to bring down costs, instead choosing to smash-and-grab funds that go to kids, families, and seniors to gift massive tax cuts to corrupt billionaires.

Now, the question becomes: Will Republicans like Rep. Rich McCormick (GA-07), Rep. Scott Fitzgerald (WI-05), Rep. Cliff Bentz (OR-02), and Rep. Nick Begich (AK-AL) flee Donald Trump’s sinking ship?

Or will they continue to spinelessly stand by Trump and Musk’s “Make America Corrupt Again” agenda as their own approval ratings plummet?

THIS WEEK: U.S. Republican representatives in Georgia, Wisconsin, Oregon, and Alaska were heckled by their constituents for their support of Donald Trump’s MAGA agenda.

Atlanta Journal Constitution: “Georgia congressman confronted by angry crowd over support for Trump’s agenda”

“U.S. Rep. Rich McCormick was peppered with boos and catcalls throughout a town hall meeting in Roswell late Thursday, as hundreds of critics jeered the Republican for backing President Donald Trump’s agenda during his first month in office.

“The Suwanee Republican’s staff expected a robust turnout for his first town hall since Trump took office. But they seemed caught off guard by the massive crowd of hundreds that gathered outside Roswell City Hall.

“Attendees set the tone early, with one accusing McCormick of ‘doing us a disservice’ for supporting the budget-slashing initiatives by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency that have torn through all corners of federal government. …

“One of the sharpest exchanges came after one attendee questioned McCormick on the DOGE-backed cuts of roughly 1,000 workers at the Atlanta-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“McCormick said he has been in ‘close contact’ with the CDC and that ‘a lot of the work they do is duplicitous with AI’ as some in the audience groaned.”

TMJ4: “West Bend voters raise concerns about Pres. Trump and Elon Musk at Republican Congressman’s town hall”

“A testy town hall hosted by Wisconsin Republican Congressman Scott Fitzgerald.

“The pushback came from constituents in West Bend demanding answers to the Trump administration’s effort to slash government spending and a diplomatic shift on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. …

“If there were Trump voters in the room, none spoke up in support of Trump’s first month efforts.”

Baker City Herald: “Congressman Cliff Bentz fields questions about Trump, federal firings, Musk during Baker City town hall”

“Much of Bentz’s presentation, and many of the questions from the audience, dealt with President Donald Trump’s executive orders and the actions of the Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency. …

“Trump received about 73% of the votes in Baker County in the November 2024 election.

“Several audience members made it clear, though, from their statements and from their reactions to both questions and Bentz’s answers, that they don’t support the administration.”

Alaskan Public Radio: “Begich town hall meeting yields gripes, fury and sprinkles of praise”

“Some Alaskans were bursting to ask tough questions of their congressman, Nick Begich, at a virtual meeting he held Monday night.

“He hadn’t said much to publicly address constituent concerns since the Trump administration began firing federal workers and freezing grant funding, so there was pent-up demand. More than 3,000 people participated in what was billed as a telephone town hall.”

Angry and frustrated constituents voiced their concerns about Georgia Congressman Rich McCormick’s inability to stand up to Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and DOGE’s unchecked power — showcasing just how out-of-touch Trump’s MAGA agenda is with the American people, even Republicans.

Constituent Comment: “[Elon Musk and DOGE] took control of the budget, not the president, and you are doing us a disservice to set that down and not stand up for us.”

*Crowd cheers*

Rep. McCormick: “You don’t think I’m going to stand up for you?”

*Crowd boos*

Constituent: “It’s clear from all the writings of our founding fathers that our great Republic was never meant to be ruled by a dictator nor by a king.”

*Crowd cheers*

Constituent Question on Trump’s Presidential Powers: “Tyranny is rising in the White House and a man has declared himself our king, so I would like to know, rather the people would like to know, what you, congressman, and your fellow congressmen are going to do to rein in the megalomanic in the White House?”

*Crowd cheers and stands for an ovation*

Rep. McCormick: “When you talk about tyranny and presidential power, I remember having the same discussion when Biden was elected.”

*Louder boos from the crowd*

Constituent: “You are offensive to the people!”

*Rep. McCormick tries to speak*

Crowd: “Shame!”

*Rep. McCormick tries to speak*

Constituent: “Don’t forget us!”

Constituent Question on DOGE and CDC Firings: “Trying to do more with less, that’s reasonable — what’s not reasonable is taking this chainsaw approach which [DOGE] obviously admits when they fire these people and then decided that ‘we’ve fired the wrong people, we gotta bring them back in.’ Why is this being jammed down the pipes so rushed and sloppily?”

In Wisconsin, Oregon, and Alaska, constituents came to town halls demanding answers from Republicans for doing nothing to rein in Elon Musk.

TMJ4: “‘How can we be represented by you if you don’t have a voice in Congress?’ asked Lorraine Henrickson.

“They didn’t like some of Scott Fitzgerald’s answers.

“‘The end result of the fraud and abuse that has been discovered already,’ Fitzgerald said before getting pushback from the audience. …

“Mary Sylvester asked about the role and responsibility of Congress. ‘We need three branches of government, not one. When will you stand up and say that’s enough?’

“Michael Wittig is concerned with Elon Musk’s role in the Trump administration—he held a sign that read ‘Presidents are not kings.’”

Rep. Cliff Bentz (OR-02) Constituent: “I will say that I’m not a Democrat …

“We’ve been through downsizing [the government] before and you can do it in a way that is humane and treats people with dignity and doesn’t fire them on the spot for ‘performance’ when we all know how hard these people work. It’s your job to make sure that people follow the laws.”

*Crowd applause*

Alaska Public Radio: “Judging by the more than 2,000 comments received, much of the online audience wanted to hear Begich answer challenging questions about the job losses, frozen funds and what they see as illegal executive overreach.

“‘When are you going to express your authority to hold the president accountable to the Constitution?’ one Facebook user asked.”
