Republicans Are Now Anti-Job Creation

The split screen couldn’t be more bleak for Republicans: While President Biden and Democrats have spent the last year working tirelessly to help create a record over six million jobs in 12 months and rebuild our economy from the bottom up and middle out, Republicans have no economic plan. In fact, just last week, the Republican Party made it clear that they are so focused on appeasing Donald Trump and whitewashing January 6 that they’re not interested in talking about job creation at all, let alone investing in it.

The January jobs report shattered expectations and showed President Biden has overseen the best year of job creation in modern history. In response, Republican leaders remained silent.

MSNBC: “Biden-era job growth is so good, the GOP is literally speechless”

MSNBC: “On Friday morning, we learned that the economy created more than a stunning 6.6 million jobs in 2021 — more than the first three years of Donald Trump’s term combined — as the unemployment rate experienced the fastest one-year drop on record. At that point, right on cue, McCarthy and McConnell again had nothing to say.

MSNBC: “Or put another way, according to the Republican National Committee’s own reasoning, Biden’s economic plan is working.”

Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson took it a step further and said the quiet part out loud: not only do Republicans have no economic plan, they’ve shown they’re totally uninterested in creating more jobs.

Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel: “’It’s not like we don’t have enough jobs here in Wisconsin’: Ron Johnson won’t try to land Oshkosh Corp. postal vehicle work”

Associated Press: “Johnson told reporters at a news conference Saturday that he was not trying to get Oshkosh Defense to put the jobs in his hometown of Oshkosh as part of a multibillion-dollar contract the company won last year to build new delivery vehicles for the U.S. Postal Service.”

Since Republican lawmakers clearly aren’t interested in creating jobs or helping working families, what have they been up to? Whitewashing domestic terrorism, spreading the Big Lie, and once again scapegoating police officers.
