We simply cannot get enough of the Republican infighting, and today is no different.

Some GOP Senators have called for an independent review of how Senator Rick Scott’s NRSC spent its resources.

POLITICO: “The GOP’s post-election finger-pointing intensified Tuesday, with two senators calling for an audit of the National Republican Senatorial Committee. During a tense, three-hour-long meeting of the Senate GOP Conference, Sens. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) and Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) said there should be an independent review of how the party’s campaign arm spent its resources before falling short of its goal of winning the majority.”

In response, Scott tried to cast blame on former NRSC chair Todd Young and accused him of mishandling NRSC’s finances.

Rick Scott: “When  I took over, I immediately became aware that hundreds of thousands of dollars in unauthorized and improper bonuses were paid to outgoing staff after the majority was lost in 2020.”

Axios dubbed the Republican infighting a “civil war” after GOP Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and GOP House Leader Kevin McCarthy both faced opposition in their reelection efforts to their leadership positions.

Axios: “A Republican civil war is erupting at virtually every level of the party, triggered by an underwhelming midterm performance that threatens to destabilize the ranks of Senate, House and national GOP leadership.”

Axios: “This is only the beginning. Election disappointments always lead to recriminations, but the feuds now roiling the GOP run far deeper than conventional policy disagreements. And with an entrenched leader like former President Trump planning his comeback announcement Tuesday, there’s little chance for peace talks.”

Axios: “A handful of prominent Republicans are publicly blaming Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) for the party’s failure to take back control of the Senate after major losses in Nevada, Arizona, and Pennsylvania. Former President Donald Trump and Senator Ted Cruz have been blaming Mitch McConnell for the Republicans’ failure to retake the Senate majority.

Axios: “What they’re saying: Former President Trump said on social media Sunday that the midterm outcome is ‘Mitch McConnell’s fault.’”

Axios: “Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) criticized McConnell on his podcast, ‘Verdict,’ on Monday, saying the McConnell-aligned Senate Leadership Fund canceling $9.6 million in television ads for the Arizona Senate race was ‘indefensible.’”

The Washington Post accurately described Republicans as being “in disarray.”
