Republicans Have Been Silent on Trump’s Dinner with Nick Fuentes

Last week, Donald Trump hosted white nationalist Nick Fuentes for dinner at Mar-a-Lago, confirming once again to Americans just how extreme today’s MAGA Republican Party is. In telling fashion, the Republican Party is nearly collectively ignoring what their party leader is up to.

Even as Republicans gear up for their messy 2024 Republican primary, they’ve largely been silent on Trump and Fuentes’ dinner — a clear indication of just how far their extremism stretches.

Bloomberg: “Many of Donald Trump’s potential 2024 rivals and some top Republicans have fallen silent on the former president’s dinner with a notorious white supremacist, illustrating the party’s continuing struggle to escape his grasp.”

And they’re not the only ones. Many Congressional Republicans have followed suit by refusing to condemn Trump’s dinner with Fuentes.

Axios: “Spokespeople for nearly two dozen House and Senate Republicans — including party leaders, co-chairs of caucuses and task forces focused on Judaism or antisemitism and sponsors of legislation to combat antisemitic hate crimes — did not respond to requests for comment.”

Trump himself has even doubled down on his decision to rub shoulders with Fuentes — and even refused to disavow Fuentes’ hate-filled stances.

The Guardian: “Donald Trump repeatedly refused to disavow the outspoken antisemite and white supremacist Nick Fuentes after they spoke over dinner at his Mar-a-Lago resort…”
