Republicans Prove Inflation Is About Nothing But Politics For Them

Republicans have spent the last few months vehemently opposing President Biden’s Build Back Better agenda that will lower costs for families and cut taxes for hardworking Americans. Despite Republicans’ breathless, misleading talking points about inflation, it’s clear they have no real plan to fix it and view rising costs for families not as a problem to be solved, but as a “gold mine” for the political games they play at the expense of Americans.

Republicans want to cut back on all COVID restrictions, which would only prolong the pandemic and put the economy and millions of more Americans’ health at risk.

NBC News: “Interviews with a half-dozen Republicans showed that while the party is not yet unified around a specific plan, other proposals include boosting domestic energy production, eliminating Covid-19 restrictions and vaccine mandates and cutting shipping and trucking regulations.”

Republicans adamantly oppose President Biden’s Build Back Better agenda, one of the biggest cost-cutting bills for middle-class families in our nation’s history. Opposing this agenda means opposing job creation and inflation-easing measures.

NBC News: “‘Our first plan to deal with inflation: We do everything we can to discourage passing this second bill,’ Sen. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., said, referring to the social safety net legislation.”

Republicans had no problem spending trillions to respond to the economic crisis from the pandemic when Donald Trump was president and billions more in tax cuts for the wealthy and big corporations.

NBC News: “Of the roughly $5 trillion in stimulus injected into the economy since the start of the pandemic in early 2020, more than half came under Trump with overwhelming Republican support, particularly in the Senate.”
