Republicans Still Don’t Have An Answer For Lowering Costs

In an interview on Sunday, Mitch McConnell refused to answer what the Republican agenda would be to lower costs for families. Meanwhile, the rest of his caucus rallies around Rick Scott’s plan to raise taxes on middle-class Americans, does nothing to lower costs, and continues to try to block any progress for the American people.

When asked what Republicans would do to lower costs for hardworking families, Mitch McConnell had no answer. Instead, Mitch McConnell and his caucus are focused on trying to block any progress from President Biden and Democrats.

PERINO: “So, inflation, gas, and groceries, this is on everybody’s minds. What would be different for Americans if Republicans win back the majorities in the House and Senate this year?”

MCCONNELL: “Well, our agenda next year, if we’re fortunate enough to be in the majority, will be focused on exactly what you and I have been talking about, crime, education, beefing up the defense of our country… So all of those will be on our agenda. We will not have the presidency for two more years. Obviously, we will have to work with the administration to see what we can agree on. But we want to turn the president — let me put it this way, Biden ran as a moderate. If I’m the majority leader in the Senate, and Kevin McCarthy’s the speaker of the House, we’ll make sure Joe Biden is a moderate.”

This isn’t the first time – Republicans are openly saying their party will do nothing to lower costs for the American people if they win control.

Politico: “Chuck Grassley made quite the admission about prescription drug pricing: Pass it now, because he isn’t sure a GOP-led Congress can get it done.”

Senator Chuck Grassley: “I think you suggested the difficulty of passing something like this in a Republican Congress, so you got an opportunity to do it right now, when Democrats and Republicans can work together to accomplish this. If we want to reduce drug prices, then we need to do it now.”
