RFK Jr. Confirms Trump is Pushing an Extreme Anti-Choice Agenda to End Medication Abortion
December 18, 2024
In response to RFK Jr. voicing support for Trump’s plans to restrict abortion access, DNC Spokesperson Alex Floyd released the following statement:
“Donald Trump’s handpicked justices ended Roe v. Wade and paved the way for a national abortion ban – and now his HHS pick RFK Jr. is confirming that Trump’s anti-choice agenda includes ending access to medication abortion nationwide. Democrats are ready to fight back against Trump’s wildly out-of-touch and dangerous threats to rip away Americans’ basic rights.”
NEW: RFK Jr. confirms he will carry out the Trump-Vance extreme Project 2025 anti-choice agenda – including restricting access to medication abortion.
Oriana González, NOTUS: “NEWS: Josh Hawley tells me RFK Jr. was ‘open’ to reinstating restrictions to the abortion pill mifepristone, specifically the in-person dispensing requirement
“‘He said he was open to that,’ Hawley said. ‘He indicated to me he wanted to support the president’s pro-life agenda’”
New Republic: “On January 20, 2025, conservatives plan to resurrect a 150-year-old defunct law to ban abortion across the nation. This is not a secret plan—far from it. It’s part of the 180-Day Playbook produced by Project 2025, detailing priorities for an incoming conservative president on day one.”
Just like Trump, Kennedy also supports a national abortion ban, which would rip away women’s reproductive freedoms and deny critical health care.
Politico: “Speaking to NBC from the Iowa State Fair, Kennedy said, ‘I believe a decision to abort a child should be up to the women during the first three months of life,’ but added: ‘Once a child is viable, outside the womb, I think then the state has an interest in protecting the child.’ He said he would sign a federal ban on abortion after 15 weeks or 21 weeks of pregnancy if he were elected president.”
NBC: “A leading conservative anti-abortion group, Susan B. Anthony List, praised Kennedy’s position in a statement, calling it ‘a stark contrast to the Democratic Party’s radical stance of abortion on demand. … Kennedy is one of the few prominent Democrats aligned with the consensus of the people today. Every candidate should be asked, ‘Where do you draw the line?’”
Rolling Stone: “Trump Wants to Ban Abortion Nationwide: Report”
Trump paved the way for banning medication abortion when he “proudly” overturned Roe v. Wade, ripping away reproductive freedoms.
Trump: “I was proudly the person responsible for the ending of … Roe v. Wade.”
Trump: “For 54 years they were trying to get Roe v. Wade terminated, and I did it, and I’m proud to have done it. … Nobody else was going to get that done but me, and we did it, and we did something that was a miracle.”
Trump: “Getting rid of Roe v. Wade was an incredible thing for pro-life because it gave pro-life something to negotiate with. Pro-life had absolutely nothing, being stuck in Roe v. Wade, to negotiate with. … And look, everybody that was president wanted to get rid and tried to get rid of Roe v. Wade … For fifty years, this has been going on. I was able to do it, and I was very honored to do it.”
Trump: “There has to be some form of punishment [for women who have an abortion].”
