Sessions’ Praise: Comey Did ‘His Duty’
May 10, 2017
Reports show that Attorney General Jeff Session was tasked by President Trump with coming up with reasons to fire FBI Director Comey.
New York Times: “Administration aides said on Tuesday that senior officials at the White House and the Justice Department had been charged with building a case to justify Mr. Comey’s firing since at least last week, and that Attorney General Jeff Sessions had been tasked with coming up with reasons to fire him.
But Sessions previously praised Comey’s role in the Clinton email investigation:
SESSIONS: Comey “stepped up and told—done what his duty is, I think. He’s got evidence to go forward now with further criminal investigation. He has no other responsibility than to follow that and then tell the American people what he’s doing.” [Lou Dobbs Tonight, Fox Business, 10/28/16]
