Shot/Chaser: Kash Patel Criticizes Government Funded Trips Then Charges Taxpayers ~$100,000 For Private Jet to Milan

SHOT: Kash Patel criticized government officials for using government-funded jets for personal travel…

Kash Patel in 2023: “I’m just saying [FBI Director] Chris Wray doesn’t need a government-funded G5 jet to go to vacations. Maybe we ground that plane. $15,000 every time it takes off. Just a thought.”

CHASER: … Patel charged taxpayers approximately $100,000 so he could take a private jet to Milan to watch the Olympic hockey games and party in the locker room afterwards.

MS NOW: “FBI Director Kash Patel flew today on the FBI’s Gulfstream jet bound for a trip to the winter Olympics in Italy to watch one of his favorite sports: men’s ice hockey, according to three people familiar with his plans.

“Patel, an avid hockey player and fan, will be at the Olympic festivities and plans to attend the bronze medal competition in men’s ice hockey on Saturday and the competition for the gold medal on Sunday, the people said.”

“Government accounts estimate it costs U.S. taxpayers at least $5,000 per flight hour for the FBI Gulfstream to fly, meaning Patel’s trip to Milan is likely to cost as much as $75,000.”

In response, DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement

“Kash Patel said it himself: Government officials shouldn’t be spending taxpayer money for their personal travels. But now that he’s in office, apparently that’s changed, and he’s happy to use Americans as a blank check to party and get drunk in Italy or visit his girlfriend while everyday Americans are tightening their wallets to get by in Donald Trump’s economy. Kash should get back to work and stop wasting taxpayer dollars — or he should resign.”
