SHOT/CHASER: Mike Johnson Said to Ask Chicagoans About Deploying the National Guard … Majority of Chicagoans Are Opposed

In his latest abuse of power, Donald Trump has authorized the deployment of 300 National Guard troops to Chicago — once again overriding local law enforcement and wasting thousands of taxpayers’ dollars. When asked about the deployment, Speaker Mike Johnson shrugged it off, saying, “[Y]ou should ask the citizens” of Chicago — yet polling shows most Chicagoans are opposed to Trump’s move.

SHOT: Mike Johnson said to ask Chicagoans what they thought of Trump sending the National Guard into Chicago…

Mike Johnson: “I don’t think you should ask the governor. I think you should ask the citizens ….”

CHASER: …the majority — nearly two-thirds — of Chicagoans opposed sending the National Guard into Chicago.

Capitol Fax: “63% of Chicagoans oppose sending the National Guard into Chicago, including 56% who strongly oppose, while only 31% support the idea. That number grows to 65% who oppose the idea after respondents were given additional information.”

Fox 32 Chicago: “A new poll from the group M3, sponsored by a conservative organization called Law and Order PAC, found that 70% of residents oppose President Donald Trump sending in the Army, while 65% oppose sending in the National Guard. … The poll surveyed 668 Chicago voters.”
