December 15, 2020
The Electoral College made it official yesterday: Biden won, Trump lost. Now that the election is over, again, Trump must accept reality and end his attacks against our democracy — even Republcian senators have called on him to move on.

Even Republican senators who had refused to accept reality admitted the election was over and it was time for Trump to move on.
Associated Press: “For the first time, a groundswell of leading Republicans said Monday that Democrat Joe Biden is the winner of the presidential election, essentially abandoning President Donald Trump’s assault on the outcome after the Electoral College certified the vote.”
Senator John Thune: “At some point you have to face the music. And I think once the Electoral College settles the issue today, it’s time for everybody to move on.”
Senator Lamar Alexander: “The presidential election is over. States have certified the votes. Courts have resolved disputes. The electors have voted. I hope that President Trump will put the country first.”
Senator Rob Portman: “The orderly transfer of power is a hallmark of our democracy, and although I supported President Trump, the Electoral College vote today makes clear that Joe Biden is now President-Elect.”
Senator Roy Blunt: “With today’s vote, the Electoral College has fulfilled its Constitutional role in determining the president and vice president-elect… I will, as Chairman of the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, work with President-elect Biden and his Presidential Inaugural Committee to plan the swearing-in ceremony on January 20.”
Senator John Cornyn: “I think there comes a time when you have to realize that, despite your best efforts you’ve been unsuccessful, that’s sort of the nature of these elections. You got to have a winner. You got to have a loser.”
Senator Chuck Grassley: “It doesn’t matter what Chuck Grassley thinks – the Constitution has answered that question for you. That’s all I can say on it.”
Senator Lindsey Graham: “Yeah it’s a very, very narrow path for the president. I don’t see how it gets there from here, given what the Supreme Court did.”
Senator Shelley Moore Capito: “It certainly looks that way… it’s time to turn the page and begin a new administration.”
Senator Joni Ernst: “I know for Iowans it’s disappointing, but the process is what it is and the constitution will be followed.”
Senator Mike Braun: “The Electoral College has cast their votes and selected Joe Biden…Legislatures (and courts) have not found enough evidence of voter fraud to overturn the results.”
Senator Thom Tillis: “Biden is the ‘presumptive nominee.'”
Senator Dan Sullivan: “In accordance with the Constitution and federal law, the Electoral College met today and the electors cast their ballots, determining that former Vice President Joe Biden is now the president-elect.”
