Tim Scott Is Radio Silent on Abortion Bans

While Republicans in South Carolina move forward with debate on how much further they’ll restrict abortion in the state, the Palmetto State Senator Tim Scott has been mute on his position.

In response, DNC spokesperson Ammar Moussa released the following statement:

“Tim Scott’s silence on how far he would go to ban abortion is especially notable  given the extreme debate happening in his own state right now. Instead of traveling to other states to boost his national profile, Scott needs to answer for where he stands on a national abortion ban and whether he would support his fellow Republicans’ plan to ban abortion with no exeptions for rape or incest.”

Despite touting his anti-abortion stance on Fox News and GOP legislators in his state actively pushing legislation that could almost completely ban abortion with no exceptions for rape and incest, Scott has been mum on where he stands on restricting reproductive rights.

Just yesterday, a group of South Carolina State House members announced a pledge urging the legislature to pass an abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest, saying there is “no reason or excuse” for a “lesser position.”
