After the U.S. Department of Labor released the latest jobs and unemployment numbers, DNC Chair and former Labor Secretary Tom Perez issued the following statement:

“Today’s jobs report shows that President Obama’s bold policies and long-term economic investments are still paying off. But while the economy continues to see steady growth, Trump is putting everything at risk. Instead of focusing his agenda on lifting up workers and creating good jobs, Trump has tried repeatedly to pass a health care repeal bill that would hurt the economy and devastate working families; he has advocated for a tax plan that prioritizes the wealthy over the middle class; and just this week, he endorsed limiting America's potential for economic growth by cutting legal immigration in half.

“Amid the daily chaos of this administration, the American people are losing faith in Trump’s ability to handle the economy and deliver on his promises. The American people deserve better. That's why Democrats are standing up for American workers and fighting to create more good jobs, raise wages, and upskill our workforce to ensure economic opportunity for all.”
