Trump Admin Email Use Violates The Law And Puts Our National Security At Risk

Oh, the hypocrisy. Numerous Trump administration officials have used personal email for official business. Now, we’ve learned that Trump’s daughter and son-in-law’s personal email use violated the law and put our national security at risk.

Kushner violated the law by using an encrypted messaging app and personal email for official communications with foreign leaders, which his lawyer confirmed he continued to use as recently as December.

NPR: “Jared Kushner’s attorney told the House Oversight Committee that Kushner uses private apps and personal email to communicate about official White House matters with foreign leaders — a violation of a law governing White House records and official policy.”

Politico: “The revelation came in a Dec. 19 meeting — made public by the House Oversight and Reform Committee for the first time on Thursday — between Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), Rep. Trey Gowdy, the former chairman of the oversight panel, and Kushner’s lawyer, Abbe Lowell. Cummings, who now leads the Oversight Committee, says in a new letter to White House Counsel Pat Cipollone that Lowell confirmed to the two lawmakers that Kushner ‘continues to use’ WhatsApp to conduct White House business.”

Ivanka Trump violated the law by not preserving official White House business conducted on her personal email.

Associated Press: “Ivanka Trump, the president’s daughter and a powerful White House aide, is not preserving all of her official email communications as required by federal law, the chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee said on Thursday.”

And it’s not just Javanka. Numerous White House officials have been accused of using personal email for official business.
