Trump Admits He Deliberately Misled Americans About The Coronavirus Threat To Young People
September 10, 2020
Trump admitted that he deliberately misled the American people about the severity of the coronavirus, including the threat it posed to young people. Now, as more kids become infected and Trump pushes to unsafely reopen schools, he continues to lie.
In March, Trump privately told Bob Woodward that he knew the coronavirus posed a threat to young people.
CNN: “By March 19, when Trump told Woodward he was purposely downplaying the dangers to avoid creating a panic, he also acknowledged the threat to young people. ‘Just today and yesterday, some startling facts came out. It’s not just old, older. Young people too, plenty of young people,’ Trump said.”
In July, as he pushed for schools to fully reopen, Trump publicly claimed that “young people are almost immune” to the coronavirus.
TRUMP: “Young people are almost immune to this disease.”
Meanwhile, as Trump continues to downplay the risk to young people, more evidence continues to come out that shows he’s lying.
CNN: “Half a million US children have been diagnosed with Covid-19, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Children’s Hospital Association.”
CNN: “More than 37,000 Covid-19 cases have been reported at colleges and universities in all 50 states”
