Trump Begs Billionaires for Cash After Threatening Government Shutdown for Hardworking Americans, Withholding Disaster Relief

Ahead of Trump’s latest billionaire donor fundraiser, DNC Rapid Response Director Alex Floyd released the following statement:

“After demanding Republicans break a bipartisan agreement and risk a government shutdown that could hit the pocketbooks of working families, Donald Trump is now hosting a candlelit dinner for his billionaire donors tonight to beg them for cash. While Trump cozies up to the ultra-rich at Mar-a-Lago tonight and doles out favors and Cabinet posts, hardworking Americans and families waiting for disaster relief are waiting to see if they’ll suffer from Trump’s petty political games — again.”

Trump is set to have a million-dollar-per-person fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago tonight on the heels of sowing chaos on Capitol Hill as a government funding deadline looms.

Washington Post: “Make America Great Again Inc., the super PAC that spent more than $450 million to elect Donald Trump this year, will host another ‘candlelight’ meal with the president-elect next week at his Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida. The price of entry for the event on Dec. 19: ‘1,000,000 PER PERSON,’ according to a copy of the invite obtained by The Washington Post.”

As Trump cozies up to his billionaire donors tonight, he’s commanding his MAGA minions to scramble and risk a government shutdown, breaking a bipartisan agreement.

John Bresnahan, Punchbowl News: “New: Trump is telling Republican senators that he is totally opposed to the CR & believes Mike Johnson has mishandling the situation”

Lawrence Jones III, Fox News: “I just spoke with the President-Elect @realDonaldTrump, and he is ‘totally against’ the proposed CR.”

NBC News: “President-elect Donald Trump excoriated a bipartisan government funding bill Wednesday afternoon, throwing the stopgap measure into chaos just as leaders of both parties were hoping to pass it.”

CBS News: “The new stopgap measure, with approval from the House, Senate and President Biden, would keep the government funded through March 14, giving lawmakers more time to reach agreement on new spending bills when the GOP controls both the House and the Senate.”

Trump continues to cozy up to his billionaire buddies and has promised to extend his extreme MAGA tax scam to get them out of paying what they owe, while working people foot the bill.

NBC News: “Trump tells billionaires he’ll keep their taxes low at $50 million fundraising gala”

“Former President Donald Trump emphasized the importance of extending his signature tax cuts to some of the nation’s wealthiest political donors, according to a readout of his private remarks Saturday night provided by a Trump campaign official.”

Rolling Stone: “Trump Panders to Billionaires, Vows to Keep Their Taxes Low During Fundraiser”

Trump cares more about himself and his billionaire donors than delivering for the working people — tapping a slew of them to run his government, resulting in the richest Cabinet in history.

CNN: “Big donors secure big roles in the incoming Trump administration”

“In all, eight of his Cabinet picks – led by Linda McMahon, the billionaire wrestling magnate Trump has selected to oversee the Education Department – and their spouses donated more than $37 million combined from their personal accounts to aid Trump, the review found, underscoring the proliferation of ultra-rich Americans now poised to shape US policy in the incoming second Trump administration.”

“The CNN analysis researched the more than 90 people that Trump had announced for high-level positions in the administration through Tuesday, which marked five weeks since his election victory. More than 30 of them had donated to his campaign or to one of the leading Trump-aligned outside groups, the review of FEC records found.”

Axios: “With Musk, Ramaswamy and other wealthy appointees included, the top of the Trump administration’s net worth is likely higher than the GDP of hundreds of countries, including Finland, Chile and New Zealand.”
