Trump Delusionally Chases Wild Conspiracy Theories To Undermine Our Democracy
December 22, 2020
In the final days of his presidency, Trump is doubling down on his anti-democratic instincts and delusionally chasing conspiracy theories in an effort to overturn the will of the people because he can’t get over his election defeat. Trump’s efforts are doomed to fail, but that hasn’t stopped him from trying to undermine our democracy.
Trump is delusionally chasing conspiracy theories and attacking our democracy in a desperate attempt to overturn the will of the people.
CNN: “Joe Biden will be president in 30 days. Until then, the question is how much damage can be done by a vengeful, delusional soon-to-be ex-President swilling conspiracy theories, whose wild anti-democratic instincts are being encouraged by fringe political opportunists.”
Washington Post: “With his baseless claims of widespread voter fraud rejected by dozens of judges and GOP leaders, President Trump has turned to a ragtag group of conspiracy theorists, media-hungry lawyers and other political misfits in a desperate attempt to hold on to power after his election loss.”
Even Senate Republicans and Trump’s allies have continued to speak out against Trump’s destructive efforts and tell him it’s time to move on.
Senate Majority Whip John Thune: “I think the thing they got to remember is, it’s not going anywhere. I mean in the Senate, it would go down like a shot dog.”
Televangelist Pat Robertson: “He is very erratic, and he’s fired people and he’s fought people and he’s insulted people and he keeps going down the line. And so, it’s a mixed bag. And I think it would be well to say, ‘You’ve had your day and it’s time to move on.’”
Instead of listening and putting country first, Trump has bitterly doubled down and ironically thinks those who oppose his failing efforts are stupid.
Axios: “President Trump, in his final days, is turning bitterly on virtually every person around him, griping about anyone who refuses to indulge conspiracy theories or hopeless bids to overturn the election, several top officials tell Axios… Trump thinks everyone around him is weak, stupid or disloyal — and increasingly seeks comfort only in people who egg him on to overturn the election results.”
