Trump is not only ignoring the worsening pandemic, he is also blocking President-elect Biden’s transition, including access to his administration’s vaccine distribution plans, which will only make it more difficult to contain the virus.
The U.S. just saw a surge of 1 million new coronavirus cases in a single week and hit new single-day record highs in new cases and hospitalizations.
The Hill: “The U.S. passed 11 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Sunday as the country saw a surge of roughly a million new cases in the past week, according to figures tabulated by Johns Hopkins University.”
NPR: “The U.S. added more than 184,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday, the fourth day in a row that the country has set a record for daily infections, according to data from the Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center.”

CNN: “The presidential transition process has not officially started because of President Donald Trump’s refusal to accept the results of the election. While Biden’s coronavirus team has been reaching out to states and the medical community to hit the ground running once he is inaugurated in January, the transition team does not have access to the administration’s Covid-19 data and vaccine distribution plans.”
Dr. Fauci and other health officials are sounding the alarm that if Trump doesn’t begin the transfer of power, it could endanger American lives.
Politico: “Public health officials, members of Joe Biden’s transition team, and elected Democrats and Republicans urged President Donald Trump on Sunday to begin the transfer of power to President-elect Joe Biden, warning that continuing to waylay the process amid a spiking pandemic could endanger American lives.”
