Trump Overruled Experts To Give Ivanka A Security Clearance — Then They Both Lied About It

It wasn’t just Jared Kushner. Trump also overruled the recommendations of career security experts, ignored warnings from his chief of staff and head counsel, and gave his daughter a security clearance. Then he and his daughter both lied about it.
Ivanka Trump definitively said that Trump had “zero” influence over her or her husband’s security clearances — that was a lie.
Ivanka Trump: “The president had no involvement pertaining to my clearance or my husband’s clearance, zero.”
Trump lied to the American people about giving his daughter and son-in-law security clearances.
Donald Trump: “I was never involved with the security. … I know that there was issues back and forth about security for numerous people, actually. But I don’t want to get involved in that stuff.”
There are at least 30 other Trump officials who had their security clearances denied by career security specialists, but then overruled and approved, despite unfavorable information.
NBC News: “Kushner’s was one of at least 30 cases in which Kline overruled career security experts and approved a top-secret clearance for incoming Trump officials despite unfavorable information, the two sources said.”
