Trump Says He’s For Law & Order, But Repeatedly Took Illegal Anti-Immigrant Actions

Trump claims he is for law and order, but he has repeatedly taken illegal actions to further his cruel anti-immigrant agenda.

Trump ordered CBP to ILLEGALLY restrict the right to asylum in the U.S.

CNN: “President Donald Trump told Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Kevin McAleenan he would grant McAleenan a pardon if he were sent to jail for having border agents block asylum seekers from entering the US in defiance of US law, senior administration officials tell CNN. Trump reportedly made the comment during a visit to the border at Calexico, California, a week ago. It was not clear if the comment was a joke. Two officials briefed on the exchange say the President told McAleenan, since named the acting secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, that he ‘would pardon him if he ever went to jail for denying US entry to migrants,’ as one of the officials paraphrased.”

Trump exploited the coronavirus pandemic to ILLEGALLY expel young migrants without due process.

Associated Press: “The young migrants and asylum seekers swim across the Rio Grande and clamber into the dense brush of South Texas. Many are teens who left Central America on their own; others were sent along by parents from refugee camps in Mexico. They are as young as 10. Under U.S. law they would normally be allowed to live with relatives while their cases wend their way through immigration courts. Instead the Trump administration is quickly expelling them under an emergency declaration citing the coronavirus pandemic, with 600 minors expelled in April alone. The expulsions are the latest administration measure aimed at preventing the entry of migrant children, following other programs such as the since-rescinded ‘zero tolerance’ policy that resulted in thousands of family separations. Border agencies say they have to restrict asylum claims and border crossings during the pandemic to prevent its spread. Migrants’ advocates call that a pretext to dispense with federal protections for children.”

Trump wanted to ILLEGALLY deny asylum seekers due process.

TRUMP: “I don’t want judges. I want ICE and border patrol agents. That’s what I want.”

TRUMP: “We have thousands of [immigration] judges. You think other countries have judges that give them trials?… These are the laws we’re suffering with.”

TRUMP: “In our country, because the laws are so ridiculous — I mean, so stupid — we have to give them a trial. So we send them into the country and then they’re supposed to come back, but they never come back. Very rarely do they come back.”

Trump ILLEGALLY issued rules to deny entry to legal immigrants.

CNN: “President Donald Trump issued a proclamation on Friday that will bar immigrant visa applicants from entering the United States unless they can prove they will have health insurance or the means to pay for medical care. Visa applicants will have to prove to consular officials that they will be covered by an approved health insurance within 30 days of entry into the US or possess the financial means to ‘pay for reasonably foreseeable medical costs.’ The new requirement could make it more difficult for people — particularly ones without financial means — to immigrate to the US. It will take effect on November 3.”

CNN: “The proclamation sidesteps Congress, along with the normal executive branch regulatory process, and does not provide an opportunity for public comment, according to Rand. He knocked it as a ‘hastily written’ directive from the White House, noting that the standards in the order are not ‘defined clearly.’”

Trump ILLEGALLY infringed on the citizenship rights of Americans born abroad.

The Hill: “The Trump administration said Wednesday that the children of some U.S. military members and government employees working overseas will no longer automatically be considered United States citizens. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) issued a policy that in some cases rescinds previous guidance stating that children of U.S. service members and other government employees abroad are considered ‘residing in the United States’ and automatically given citizenship under a section of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA).”

Politico: “The agency’s update prompted concern — and in some cases, confusion — from advocates and legal scholars who said that the U.S. could end up denying citizenship to more children born overseas.”

Trump said he planned to ILLEGALLY end birthright citizenship.

TRUMP: “So-called Birthright Citizenship, which costs our Country billions of dollars and is very unfair to our citizens, will be ended one way or the other. It is not covered by the 14th Amendment because of the words ‘subject to the jurisdiction thereof.’ Many legal scholars agree.”

Trump ILLEGALLY terminated the DACA program without notice.

The World: “On the campaign trail, US President Donald Trump repeatedly promised to end DACA and said President Obama’s action was an abuse of power. In rescinding the program in 2017, then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions said it ‘denied jobs to hundreds of thousands of Americans by allowing those same illegal aliens to take those jobs.’ Since then, lower courts have kept DACA alive temporarily. Activists, college presidents and business leaders nationwide have voiced their support for DACA recipients. The plaintiffs in the Supreme Court case argue that the Trump administration did not follow the correct process before ending DACA. The government contends it did, and that it did not need to seek public comments or publish notice before ending the program. The future for DACA may be unclear no matter which way the justices rule.”

Trump declared a national emergency on the southern border to ILLEGALLY override Congress and redirect taxpayer funds toward wall construction.

Associated Press: “President Donald Trump on Friday ended one bruising political fight and starting another explosive one, declaring a national emergency he said would allow him to divert federal funds to pay for a border wall Congress has refused to approve.”
