Trump’s Too Busy To Visit Our Troops, But He’s Not Too Busy To Golf

In an interview yesterday, Trump said he was too busy and didn’t think it was “overly necessary” to visit our troops in combat zones. Trump’s predecessors were able to find time to make several trips to Iraq and Afghanistan early in their presidencies, but not Trump — he did find time, however, to golf, campaign, and fundraise for himself.

Trump said he’s been “very busy” and doesn’t think it’s “overly necessary” to visit our troops in combat zones.

AP: “On the subject of American soldiers and military overseas, why have you not yet visited a military base in a combat zone like in Iraq and Afghanistan?”

Trump: “Well, I will do that at some point, but I don’t think it’s overly necessary. I’ve been very busy with everything that’s taking place here.”

While Trump didn’t have enough time to visit our troops, he did have plenty of time to golf, campaign, and fundraise.

  • Trump has had time to visit his golf clubs on nearly 160 days of his presidency.

  • Trump has had time to visit his own properties 210 times as president.

  • Trump had time to take a 17-day vacation last year, and an 11-day trip in August to his New Jersey golf club.

  • Trump has had time to travel to 16 states to hold two dozen campaign-style rallies as president.

  • Trump had time to headline dozens of fundraisers, and was the first president in decades to raise money for his own re-election during his first two years in office.
