Vance Travels to the University of Georgia as the Trump-Vance Economy Fails Young Americans

Today, JD Vance is set to speak to students at the University of Georgia, as the economy continues to take a nosedive after Vance failed to reach a deal to end the war he and Donald Trump started in Iran. Trump and Vance’s deadly and costly war has left 13 service members dead, hundreds more wounded, and costs back home skyrocketing.

Young Americans are struggling to get by under Trump and Vance’s economy. A majority of Gen Zers said, “The American Dream of owning a home is dead.” Job growth has drastically slowed, making it especially difficult for young Americans to land their first jobs or pay rent.

Plus, Georgians already paid an extra $12 billion in 2025 because of Trump’s reckless trade war. Now, because of Trump and Vance’s war with Iran, gas prices in Georgia are nearly $3.70, up from $2.78 before the war, according to AAA.

In response, DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:

“JD Vance should be embarrassed to show his face on the campaign trail, especially to young voters. Donald Trump and Vance promised a ‘pro-peace,’ ‘America First’ agenda, and now their deadly and costly war with Iran drags on and young Americans are struggling to make ends meet as prices soar and jobs disappear. At every turn, Trump and Vance can find money to go to war and give billionaires permanent tax cuts but they can’t bother to lower health care costs or make buying a home more affordable. If that’s really their pitch to voters ahead of the midterms, Republicans are in even bigger trouble than we thought.”

Nearly two months into Trump and Vance’s war, the Consumer Price Index report for March showed that inflation surged to 3.3% last month, almost a full point higher than the month before and higher than it was when Trump took office. And according to estimates, the war in Iran will cost 10,000 jobs a month through the end of the year.

On the campaign trail, Vance explicitly assured voters, “Our interest very much is in not going to war with Iran. It would be a huge distraction of resources. It would be massively expensive to our country.” Once in the White House, Vance joined the chorus of “yes men” in the Situation Room who encouraged Trump to go to war.
