After throwing his own constituents under the bus to rubber-stamp Donald Trump’s billionaire-first agenda, Republican Rep. Mike Flood came face-to-face with fed-up Nebraskans during a disastrous town hall. Nebraskans showed up in droves to hold Flood accountable for bending the knee to Trump and passing his billionaire-first budget — the largest wealth transfer in history from the working families to the ultrawealthy. 

In response, DNC Vice Chair and Association of State Democratic Committees President Jane Kleeb released the following statement: 

“Nebraskans are fed up. First, Mike Flood ripped away health care and food assistance from thousands of his own constituents. Then, he lied to them about the sweeping cuts. But he can’t escape the fact that he’s making working families suffer all to fund another round of massive tax handouts for Trump’s billionaire donors. During the August recess, Nebraskans, like Americans all across the country, are sending a loud and clear message to Republicans: You voted against us, now we’ll vote you out.”

Rep. Mike Flood faced heckles and boos at his town hall after he voted for Donald Trump’s billionaire-first budget and ripped away health care and food assistance from millions of Americans.  

New York Times: “Representative Mike Flood, Republican of Nebraska, was not even 30 seconds into his prepared introduction at a town hall in Lincoln on Monday evening when the booing and the jeering began. Then it didn’t let up for over an hour.

“‘There’s been a lot of misinformation out there about the bill,’ Mr. Flood told a crowd of more than 700 people gathered in a downtown recital hall, referring to President Trump’s sweeping domestic policy legislation that significantly cuts Medicaid, food benefits and other programs.

“‘You are a liar!’ multiple people shouted back. ‘Liar! Liar!’ …

“In response, the packed auditorium erupted in a chant of ‘Tax the rich,’ and Mr. Flood finally had to pause his slides. …

“Mr. Flood admitted to voters earlier this summer at a town hall that he had not read the entire bill before voting to pass it.”

Trump’s budget will devastate working Nebraskans — killing jobs and ripping away health care and food assistance programs they rely on.
