The Trump administration has already told veterans they are not fit to serve, fired more veterans than any administration in U.S. history, and admitted they made mistakes and are trying to walk back their disastrous agenda of mass firings and funding cuts. 

Instead of protecting our nation’s bravest, every single Senate Republican doubled down on Trump and Musk’s mistakes and refused to pause their careless mass firings.

Senator Tim Kaine: “30% of the federal workforce’s veterans compared with only 6% of the overall workforce. The Trump administration has fired more veterans than any administration in the history of the United States. Derek Copeland as an example, was a 20-year Air Force veteran … His termination letter said ‘you have not demonstrated that your further employment at the agency would be in the public interest.’ He said, ‘I gave blood, sweat, and tears to this country for 20 years to continue service to the federal government. I feel like I’ve been thrown out like a piece of trash.’ My motion hits pause on this bill and would stop mass firing of veterans because it’s wrong, and I would ask my colleagues to support my motion.” 

Senate Republicans unanimously voted against protecting America’s veterans, leaving them to the whims of Trump and Musk’s reckless agenda.
