We Told You: Republicans Want to Raise Prescription Drug Prices

Not content with voting against lowering insulin costs and prescription drug prices, Republicans want to force people to pay more for lifesaving prescription drugs. You don’t need to take our word for it. Listen to what they have to say:

House Republicans’ plan includes a section indicating they would increase prescription drug prices for seniors on Medicare.

Rep. Morgan Griffith said making seniors pay more for prescription drugs is “defend[ing] the Constitution.”

Axios: “‘If the courts haven’t gotten to it beforehand, yeah we’ve got to do our job and try to defend the Constitution,’ Rep. Morgan Griffith (R-Va.) told Axios, saying the [prescription drug pricing] law is an ‘unlawful taking.’”

Rep. Kevin Brady said undoing prescription drug measures is “a top priority for Republicans in the new session.”

Axios: “Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Texas), the top Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee, indicated repealing the drug pricing law is a likely agenda item. ‘Because those drug provisions are so dangerous, by discouraging investment in life-saving cures, I would imagine that will be a top priority for Republicans in the new session,’ he said.”

In a previous interview, Rep. Buddy Carter said he was pushing his colleagues to repeal drug pricing provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act, which would increase prescription drug prices.

FOX Business: Rep. Carter: “With the prescription drug pricing, that’s something I’m very interested in as a pharmacist. And I’ve been asking my colleagues ‘how are we going to undo that when we get into the majority?’”

If Republicans take control of Congress, not only will they work to increase prescription drug prices, but they want to ban abortion in every state, gut Social Security and Medicare, and more. The American people cannot afford this extreme agenda.
