What They WERE Saying: Republicans Praised Trump For 3.6% Unemployment Rate President Biden Just Achieved

Today, unemployment fell to 3.6% thanks to the work of President Biden and Democrats. Given their praise of the defeated former President Donald Trump when he delivered the same results, we’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and hope Republicans were too stunned at this unbelievable progress to speak – and that this isn’t just more blatant hypocrisy.

Let’s take a look at what Republicans WERE saying in 2019 when our economy hit 3.6% unemployment under their party leader, Donald Trump:

Rep. Kevin McCarthy: “Huge. The lowest unemployment rate in 50 years!”

Senator Rick Scott: “Incredible news for America’s economy 🇺🇸! Our unemployment rate fell to 3.6%, the lowest rate since 1969! But we don’t plan to slow down! We’ll continue cutting taxes and regulations to make sure our economy keeps booming and businesses keep creating more jobs! 📈

Senator Marsha Blackburn: “HUGE news: Jobs, jobs, jobs! Unemployment rate drops to 3.6% in April—the lowest in nearly 50 years! The pro-business policies put into action by the Republicans in Congress and @realdonaldtrump are working and the economy keeps growing. This is great news for American workers!”

Senator Tom Cotton: “Report this morning confirms what Americans across the country already know: the economy is humming. At 3.6%, unemployment is at the lowest rate since Armstrong & Aldrin walked on the moon.”

Senate Republicans: “Since @POTUS @realdonaldtrump and Republicans in Congress passed tax reform:

✨  3.5 million new jobs have been created

✨  Wages continue to rise

AND…

🌚  3.6% unemployment rate is the lowest since man first walked on the moon.”

Senator Pat Toomey: “Another month, another set of great job numbers. In April, our economy added 263,000 more jobs and the unemployment rate dropped to 3.6%, which is a 50 year low. More evidence that tax reform and regulatory relief are working!”

Senator Bill Cassidy: “Historic day: unemployment has dropped to 3.6%, making it the lowest in 50 YEARS! The U.S. added 263K jobs in April, again exceeding economists’ expectations. So-called experts continue to underestimate what our economy can do under Republican leadership.”

Senator John Barrasso: “Since Senate Republicans passed tax reform, 3.5 million new jobs have been created. Wages continue to rise and the 3.6% unemployment rate is the lowest since man first walked on the moon. #JobsReport”

Senator Joni Ernst: “The results speak for themselves—pro-growth policies are working for the American people. A few highlights from the April jobs report:

263,000 jobs were added 📈
Unemployment ⬇️ to 3.6%
Average earnings grew 3.2% from last year 💸

Senator John Cornyn: “The unemployment rate is now 3.6% – the lowest in nearly 50 years. #TaxCuts are working.”

Senator Thom Tillis: “🚨 April #JobsReport 🚨
→ Lowest unemployment rate (3.6%) since 1969
→ Added 263,000 jobs
→ Solid wage growth for hardworking Americans”

Senator John Thune: “October’s #JobsReport showed unemployment was at a low 3.6%. In contrast, in October 2011 – the same point in Obama’s presidency – unemployment was at 9%.

GOP policies like #TaxCuts have helped foster a strong labor market & higher wages, which continue to attract workers.”

Rep. Tom Emmer: “Friday saw the release of January’s jobs report. Check out how @HouseGOP pro-growth policies continue to make our economy stronger:
✅ Wages are ⬆️
✅ 225,000 new jobs added
✅ 3.6% unemployment rate”

Republican National Committee: “April’s jobs report beat expectations & underscored the strength of the @realDonaldTrump economy.
+263,000 jobs added in April
+5.4 million jobs created since Pres. Trump took office
+Unemployment rate dropped to 3.6%
+Hispanic unemployment dropped to a record low 4.2%”

GOP Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel: “Republicans and @realDonaldTrump are delivering for Americans:

*6M new jobs
*Unemployment at 3.6%, the lowest since 1969.
“Meanwhile, Democrats are fantasizing over baseless impeachment, government-run health care, and the socialist Green New Deal.”
