Thanks to President Biden and Democrats, Most American Families Eligible for Enhanced Child Tax Credit; Will Start Receiving Payments in July

Yesterday, voters from Nevada to Maine spent Child Tax Credit Awareness Day reading about the American Rescue Plan’s historic expansion of the Child Tax Credit and its upcoming benefits for middle-class families. As outlets across the country noted, these tax credits were passed by President Biden and Democrats — no thanks to Republicans in Congress who unanimously voted against the American Rescue Plan.

Starting mid-July, almost all families who have filed taxes in the last two years will receive this tax cut automatically, making it easier for families to put food on the table, pay the bills, and make rent. Experts estimate this historic expansion will cut child poverty in half.
