Who’s Next? Trump Now Suggests Revoking The Licenses of TV Networks That Criticize Him
September 18, 2025

Today, on Air Force One, Donald Trump suggested the Federal Communications Commission should consider revoking the broadcast licenses of TV networks over negative coverage he receives.
In response, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:
“We are watching in real time as Donald Trump is conducting the most concerted, blatant attack on the freedom of speech in modern times and every American’s right to free speech is at risk. Now, Trump is using the levers of government to crush any and all dissent, vowing to consider taking broadcast licenses away from networks that criticize him and his administration.
“Trump has shown his cards: freedom of speech is no longer protected. No matter what lies he and his administration have peddled about being the party of free speech – it’s clear that Trump wants everyone to fall in line.
“Americans will not stand for this blatant government overreach. As Trump continues to betray the promises he made to his voters, Trump is splitting people off from his own coalition who he will never get back.”
