The Biden-Harris American Rescue Plan is one of the most progressive pieces of legislation passed in the last decade. After one year in a pandemic, help is here! The American Rescue Plan will get vaccines in arms, checks in pockets, and kids back in schools.

We have President Biden’s administration and Democrats in Congress to thank for their vote. If your senator is a Republican, then they voted NO on this historic bill.

1. If your senator is a Democrat, give them a call and say thank you for voting YES on the American Rescue Plan.
2. It’s critical we hold Republicans accountable for their votes against providing more vaccines, putting money in the pockets of working Americans, and safely reopening schools.

1. Dial in and contact your senator.
2. Let them know how important the American Rescue Plan is for our country.
3. For Democrats, thank them for voting YES.
4. For Republicans, hold them accountable. Ask them why they voted NO.

If you’d like something more structured, you can try filling in a script like this:

“Hi, I’m [NAME], I am a current constituent and I live in [Madison, Wisconsin] and I am calling because Senator [Tammy Baldwin] voted YES on the American Rescue Plan and that means so much to me and families like mine who are struggling in the midst of a global pandemic. For me and my family that is important because… I am just calling to say thank you for looking out for [Wisconsin] families!”

If your senator is a Republican, you should demand an answer as to why your senator would vote NO on such an important bill that would make so many people’s lives better. If you’d like something more structure, you can try filling in a script like this:

“Hi, I’m [Greg], I am a current constituent and I live in [Madison, Wisconsin] and I am calling because the American Rescue Plan is taking direct steps to give targeted and immediate COVID-19 relief to people who are struggling in the midst of a global pandemic. For me and my family that is important because… Senator [Ron Johnson] voted no on this sweeping legislation and I would like to know why? Why did my senator want to deny folks pandemic relief?”

It’s very important that you only call *your* representatives for where you live. Senators and congresspeople have specific duties to the people who reside in their state and if the lines get flooded with a bunch of out-of-state callers, it has the potential to counteract our goal.
