Republican lawmakers have a lengthy record of taking credit for President Biden and Democrats’ accomplishments. Now that President Biden has signed the Inflation Reduction Act into law, we can expect that it won’t be long until congressional Republicans also try to take credit, despite unanimously opposing it.

How do we know? Because key provisions of this historic legislation are incredibly popular with the American people.

And this is nothing new. GOP lawmakers had repeatedly gone on the record opposing critical funding in the American Rescue Plan that helped American families recover from the pandemic, but then they turned around and tried to take credit.

But like many Republican officials, Ms. Noem has found it hard to say no to her state’s share of the $1.9 trillion pandemic relief aid that Democrats passed along party lines in March. Ms. Noem explained to fellow legislators how critical those federal funds were to South Dakota and outlined how she would use some of the nearly $1 billion slated for her state to invest in local water projects, make housing more affordable and build new day care centers.”

With the American Rescue Plan and the Inflation Reduction Act, the American people know that they have President Biden and Democrats to thank for delivering for them – and not one single congressional Republican. 

New York Times: “Republican leaders across the country have been engaged in a similarly awkward dance over the past few months as they accept — and often champion — money from the $350 billion bucket of state and local aid included in the stimulus bill, which passed Congress without a single Republican vote.”

Republicans cannot run from their record. They show time and again they will side with special interests and wealthy corporations over the American people. Americans deserve lawmakers who will fight for them. Americans know better than to support this extreme, dangerous MAGA agenda.
