DNC on the CHIPS and Science Act Anniversary

DNC Chair Jaime Harrison released the following statement to recognize the anniversary of the signing of the CHIPS and Science Act:

“One year ago today, President Biden signed the CHIPS and Science Act into law, further powering an American manufacturing boom. Thanks to the CHIPS and Science Act, we’re delivering on President Biden’s promise of building the future right here in America. In the year since it was enacted, the CHIPS and Science Act has helped unleash billions of dollars in public and private investments, create thousands of good-paying jobs, and position the United States to win the economic competition of the 21st century.

“Under President Biden and Vice President Harris’s leadership, we’re turning the page on the era of hollowed out factories and outsourced jobs, bringing manufacturing back to America, and ringing in a century where the future is made in America. That’s Bidenomics in action.

“As we celebrate today’s anniversary, let’s not forget that a vast majority of congressional Republicans voted against the CHIPS and Science Act. Instead of voting to lower costs and bring good-paying jobs back to America, a majority of the Republicans in Congress made clear that they would rather side with China over American manufacturing. But while they dragged their feet, President Biden and Democrats came together to deliver for Americans and power our economy through the 21st century. Today, we celebrate the historic progress made in the last year and recommit to building a future that is made in America.”
