Meet the Extreme 2024 Republicans Speaking at the Iowa State Fair Today

Mike Pence, Doug Burgum, and Francis Suarez are visiting the Iowa State Fair today, and they are just three of the candidates among the most extreme slate of Republican presidential candidates in history. Here’s what you need to know about their extreme MAGA agendas:

Mike Pence spent four years as Donald Trump’s wingman, and he wants to push that same MAGA agenda even further.

Wolf Blitzer: “Would you support a six-week ban nationwide?”

Pence: “Well, of course. Look — I’m pro-life. I don’t apologize for it. I believe that we’ve got to do everything in our power to restore the sanctity of life to the center of American law. And I’d support federal legislation in that regard if I was in the Congress or had any other job here in town.”

New York Times: “Mr. Pence says Social Security and Medicare must be trimmed back as part of any serious plan to deal with the national debt.”

Washington Post: “Pence has said Trump was ‘wrong’ to pressure him to reject the electoral college votes … But as Pence has begun laying the groundwork to run in 2024, he isn’t seeking to make opposing Trump core to his political brand. Last week, Pence appeared in Phoenix to endorse Senate candidate Blake Masters of Arizona … Pence also led a fundraiser for Burt Jones, the Republican nominee for Georgia’s lieutenant governor who was part of the effort … to submit phony electors claiming Trump won the state in 2020.”

Wall Street Journal: “Mr. Pence said he would also call for the ‘Trump-Pence tax cuts’ to be permanent and for the rejection of ‘bailouts as an economic policy’ because they eviscerate the discipline of a free-market system.”

Doug Burgum has signed some of the most MAGA legislation in the country as governor.

CBS News: “Last month, Burgum signed into law one of the strictest anti-abortion laws in the country, an abortion ban that allows limited exceptions up to six weeks’ gestation, and only for medical emergencies at any other point in the pregnancy. After signing the bill, he said the legislation ‘reaffirms North Dakota as a pro-life state.’”

Newsweek: “North Dakota has become the 12th state to allow most law-abiding adults to carry concealed guns without permits, after Republican Governor Doug Burgum late Thursday night signed a bill into law.”

CNN: “North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum doesn’t say whether he believes humansare to blame for global warming as a new analysis finds extreme heat waves were made significantly more likely by the human-caused climate crisis.”

Francis Suarez is running on an extreme MAGA agenda that includes vowing to sign a national abortion ban and making permanent Trump’s disastrous tax cuts.

Wall Street Journal: “[Suarez] said he would support a national ban on abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy, with exceptions for rape, incest and the life of mother.”

Larry Kudlow: “Do you want to extend and make the Trump tax cuts permanent, in other words, national type issues?”

Suarez: “Absolutely.”
