Rhode Island Democrat Stefano Famiglietti Clinches Landslide Victory in Second Largest Democratic Overperformance of 2025

Democrats are overperforming and winning everywhere – Famiglietti’s victory is a 45% overperformance from 2024

Earlier this week, Rhode Island Democrat Stefano Famiglietti won a landslide victory in his Senate District 4 race, winning over 80% of the vote – a 56-point greater margin than the top of the ticket’s victory in this district in November 2024.

With this win, Democrats have either won or overperformed in 36 out of 37 key elections in 2025. Additionally, this election marks Democrats second biggest overperformance of the year, a clear sign of momentum heading into the 2026 midterms.

In response to Democrats’ victory in Rhode Island’s Senate District 4 race, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:

“Coast to coast, from blue to red America, voters are sending a clear message: they want Democrats in charge. While Republicans bow to Trump, selling out their constituents to enrich billionaires as the economy shrivels up, Americans are saying enough is enough. Democrats are fighting every day for working people – and voters have noticed. In 2025, Democrats are winning and overperforming in elections everywhere because working families are desperate for a party that will move the country forward, fight on their behalf, and actually give a damn about their lives. Winning elections is the DNC’s mission, and with another win under our belt and growing momentum, Democrats are gearing up to defeat Republicans and deliver big wins for working families in 2025 and 2026.”

In Rhode Island, Democrat Stefano Famiglietti cruised to victory with a 67-point advantage against his Republican opponent to represent Rhode Island’s Senate District 4.

Providence Journal: “Democrat Stefano Famiglietti cruised to victory in the special election to succeed the late Dominick Ruggerio in the Rhode Island Senate, defeating Republican Alex Asermely.

Famiglietti, a North Providence town councilman, had 83% of the vote to 16% for Asermely, according to unofficial results from the state Board of Elections.”
