NEW DATA: Trump’s Job Market is in Freefall, Job Cuts Hit Pandemic Era High

New data released today from Challenger, Gray & Christmas revealed that Donald Trump’s job market is continuing to erode as U.S. employers announced over 71,000 job cuts in November. That brings the total number of job cuts to nearly 1.2 million in 2025 alone — only the sixth time since 1993 that job cuts through November have topped 1.1 million. The report comes just one day after the November ADP jobs report revealed a net of 32,000 jobs were lost last month, the most since March 2023.

In response, DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:

“Donald Trump’s economy is in shambles, and Trump is turning a blind eye to working families who are bearing the consequences: an upended job market, soaring prices, and rising bankruptcies. And what do Republicans have to say? ‘Relax.’ It’s a slap in the face to everyday Americans who are struggling to make ends meet as they watch Trump cozy up to the ultrawealthy and well-connected.”

Trump’s disastrous trade war is wreaking havoc on the economy: Companies are purging jobs left and right, and inflation has climbed every month since April. Meanwhile, Trump again this week said that “affordability is a hoax.” And just this morning, when asked about Americans’ affordability concerns, House Speaker Mike Johnson told people to “relax.”

Americans aren’t having it: New polling shows that nearly half of Americans — including nearly 4-in-10 Trump voters — believe the cost of living in the U.S. is worse than they can ever remember.
