As Trump Heads to PA-08, DNC Chair Slams Trump’s Big Ugly Bill for Raising Costs for Pennsylvania Families

As Donald Trump travels to Pennsylvania’s 8th Congressional District today to try to stem the bleeding on his all-time low approval rating, he won’t be able hide from the fact that his Big Ugly Bill raises costs for thousands of hardworking Pennsylvania families. Donald Trump’s Big Ugly Bill costs the median household in Pennsylvania’s Eighth District $390 and his chaotic trade war costs them an additional $930. The Big Ugly Bill also cuts SNAP benefits for over 10,000 families in PA-08 alone, where nearly 20% of households rely on SNAP. It also kicks over 20,000 families in PA-08 off their health insurance.

Trump’s trip comes the same day that he rated his handling of the economy “A-plus-plus-plus-plus-plus,” despite polling showing 64% of Americans disapprove of his economic policies and 60% disapprove of his job performance overall.

In response to Trump’s trip to Pennsylvania, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:

“Despite his delusions that he is doing an ‘A-plus-plus-plus-plus-plus’ job on the economy in the face of skyrocketing costs and inflation, the reality is that Donald Trump has no plans to address the affordability crisis he created. While Trump gave billionaires a massive tax giveaway, families in Northeastern Pennsylvania are facing health care premiums that are about to double or triple, if they don’t lose their health care entirely. The last thing families in Pennsylvania want to see is the man who’s responsible for pricing them out of their health care, winter heating bills, and food.”
