As Republicans continue to betray American families by gathering in Dallas to praise Trump and his costly agenda, Democrats’ strategy is straightforward: organize everywhere, talk to voters everywhere, and fight for every vote.
Democratic candidates have won or overperformed in nearly 300 key elections since 2025 — a rate of nearly 90%.
This week, the DNC is hosting two national partisan voter registration trainings and launching a National Voter Registration Week of Action beginning September 14 to register voters ahead of November.
With less than 60 days until the midterm elections, Republicans are spending millions of dollars putting on a Trump-centered political spectacle in Dallas that will highlight his failed agenda and tax giveaways to the wealthy. Democrats are going on offense while focusing on the work that wins elections and competing up and down the ballot.
The contrast could not be clearer. The GOP’s first-ever midterm convention is built around Donald Trump and his failed and harmful agenda, with an almost six-figure price tag to access the president. Meanwhile, several vulnerable Republican candidates are skipping the event, afraid that Trump’s unpopularity poses a threat to their electability.
While Republicans gather to praise Trump and families continue to pay the price for the president’s reckless agenda, unpopular war in Iran, and tax giveaways to billionaires, Democrats’ strategy is straightforward: organize everywhere, talk to voters everywhere, and fight for every vote.
This week, the DNC is hosting two national trainings where thousands of people across the country will learn how to conduct partisan voter registration in their communities. Democrats will also launch a National Voter Registration Week of Action beginning September 14, mobilizing in every part of the country to register voters and engage communities ahead of November. This work comes on the heels of a summer in which Democrats hosted hundreds of organizing events nationwide, generating impactful conversations with voters through canvasses, phone banks, voter registration drives, trainings, and community events.
Ahead of November, Democratic candidates are also going on offense with a clear message: Lower costs, protect healthcare, and make housing and childcare more affordable. Democrats are meeting voters where they are and doing the work to win in November.
In response, DNC Chair Ken Martin issued the following statement:
“While Republicans spend millions of dollars throwing a party for Donald Trump, Democrats are spending our time and resources doing the work that wins elections: Talking to voters, registering new ones, organizing communities, and fighting for every vote. The difference is stark: As Republican candidates worship an unpopular president, Democrats are going on offense and staying focused on lowering costs, making life more affordable, and delivering for working families.”
Democrats’ on-the-ground organizing and mobilizing work has already resulted in Democratic candidates winning or overperforming in nearly 300 key elections since 2025 — a rate of nearly 90%. That includes flipping 31 state legislative seats from red to blue. In red, blue, and purple districts alike, Democrats are overperforming and winning elections back-to-back as we build Democratic power across all levels of government to ensure everyday Americans have strong leaders fighting for them.
This is why Democrats are laser-focused on building the strongest campaign operations possible by powering the people who will deliver Democratic victories across the map. Through key seven-figure investments such as the NextWave Regional Bootcamps, State Partnership Program, When We Count voter registration program, Battleground Leadership Project, and BlueMatch, the DNC is building the strong Democratic infrastructure needed to bring home wins not just in 2026, but for election cycles to come.
The DNC has also consistently prioritized voter registration over the last year. In July, Democrats launched an innovative World Cup Weekend of Action to register new voters outside FIFA Fan Zones and at community watch parties, sports bars, parks, and other high-traffic locations. This effort included trainings that equipped more than 1,500 Democrats with the best practices to run partisan voter registration drives. In June, fellows also registered shift workers and gig workers outside of grocery stores, laundromats, thrift stores, gas stations, transit stops, dollar stores, and check-cashing areas as part of the DNC’s Stuff Costs Too Much Weekend of Action. Additionally, the DNC held a National Voter Registration Week of Action in the spring.
