Americans trust Democrats more than Republicans to handle the economy and the cost of living
A new report released yesterday shows that under Donald Trump and JD Vance, the average American household has spent an additional $4,200 on goods and services. Trump’s reckless tariffs and deadly and costly war with Iran have hiked prices, forcing working families to stretch their budgets even further to make ends meet.
Since Trump started his war of choice with Iran, Americans have spent an additional $107 BILLION on gas and diesel, as the national average price for a gallon of gas currently sits at a whopping $4.37. The average household has also spent an additional $310 on groceries and an additional $833 on housing costs such as rent and mortgage payments since Trump and Vance took office.
A new poll yesterday also revealed that a majority of Americans “strongly disapprove” of Trump’s job performance. More than 60% of Americans believe Trump is focused on the wrong issues, and nearly half “strongly disapprove” of Trump’s economy. Meanwhile, Americans trust Democrats more than Republicans to handle the economy and the cost of living.
In response, DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:
“Donald Trump and JD Vance waged a reckless trade war and a costly war with Iran, and everyday Americans are paying the price. Prices on everything from gas to groceries to housing are soaring, and working families are shelling out money they don’t have to pay their bills. Trump vowed to lower costs on ‘Day One,’ yet he continues to double down on his price-spiking policies as he and Vance turn a blind eye to everyday Americans who are struggling to make ends meet.”
Consumer sentiment so far in September fell to its second-lowest level on record, dropping to 16% lower than before Trump started his war with Iran and 33% lower than when Trump took office.
