Today, Donald Trump will travel to South Carolina to promote the failed Republican agenda that has made life more expensive for working families. Republicans’ reckless tariffs and deadly and costly war with Iran have hiked prices on everything from gas to groceries, crushing everyday Americans. On top of that, their Big Ugly Bill ripped healthcare away from families and children while shuttering healthcare facilities across the country, including in South Carolina.
Now, Trump is desperately trying to prop up Darline Graham’s sinking campaign, after his super PAC was forced to spend more than $800,000 to rescue her primary bid earlier this year. Graham is not only extreme, but she has proven to be woefully unqualified to be South Carolina’s next senator, after she admitted in a debate that she is “not that informed on national security.” As the war with Iran rages on, Trump defended her by saying, “she was just being honest.”
In response, DNC Deputy Communications Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:
“Donald Trump and JD Vance’s desperate pleas for voters to give them ‘another chance’ are too little, too late. Their reckless tariffs and deadly and costly war with Iran have hiked prices on everything from gas to groceries while their cuts to healthcare have caused premiums to skyrocket, forcing working families to cut back or go further into debt. Americans are tired of Trump’s price-spiking agenda, and in less than two weeks, they are going to hold Republicans accountable.”
REMINDER: South Carolina families have spent an additional $3,300 for everyday essentials under Trump and Vance, including $310 for groceries and $696 on housing costs. The average price for a gallon of gas in South Carolina is $3.83 and the average price for a gallon of diesel is $5.83. South Carolina families have shelled out an additional $980 on gas alone since Trump and Vance started their war with Iran. On top of that, more than 100,000 South Carolinians have lost healthcare thanks to Trump and Republicans’ $1 trillion cut to Medicaid and their refusal to renew the enhanced Affordable Care Act premium tax credits.
