DNC Congratulates Rep. Mikie Sherrill on Her Victory, Pledges Support to Keep Governorship Blue
June 10, 2025
Tonight, the DNC congratulates Rep. Mikie Sherrill on her victory in the New Jersey Democratic primary. Rep. Mikie Sherrill is a former Navy helicopter aircraft commander who knows how to lead. As governor, she will work across the aisle to build more housing, fix the economy, and lower costs for New Jersey families. In 2025, New Jersey will hold some of the nation’s most crucial elections. In the run-up to November, the DNC will work hand in hand with the New Jersey Democratic Party and Democratic candidates up and down the ballot to protect working Garden Staters and fight back against Donald Trump and Jack Ciattarelli’s extreme, cost-hiking agenda.
Following the results of tonight’s election, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:
“Congratulations to New Jersey Democratic gubernatorial nominee Rep. Mikie Sherrill and to New Jersey Democrats up and down the ballot who are stepping up to fight for families across the Garden State. The DNC is all hands on deck to ensure the Governor’s office and Assembly remain blue in November. We will do everything in our power to unite the party and defeat Republican extremists like Jack Ciattarelli who want to rubber stamp Donald Trump’s cost-hiking agenda and sell out working-class Americans. In 2025, Democrats have overwhelmingly won and overperformed in special and off-year elections. We’ll continue that trend in New Jersey by organizing in every corner of the state, investing strategically, and working with our allies on the ground to elect more Democrats who will stand up to the Trump disaster and deliver for working families.”
The DNC is all-in on keeping the New Jersey Governor’s office blue and electing Democrats up and down the ballot this November. Last weekend, DNC Chair Ken Martin traveled to the state to rally Democrats and highlight the stakes of elections this fall. Democrats are united in defeating extreme Republicans in order to enact the policies that put working families first.
