DNC on National Gun Violence Awareness Day

DNC Chair Jaime Harrison issued the following statement marking National Gun Violence Awareness Day:

Today is National Gun Violence Awareness Day, but every day in this country we are reminded of the toll that gun violence has taken on our families, our communities, and our nation. We must act to ensure horrific shootings like the one at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, at the Tops supermarket in Buffalo, and the hundreds of other mass shootings that have already taken place in our country this year, come to an end.

Thoughts and prayers are not nearly enough – now is the time for the action our nation needs. It is time for Republicans to come to the table and help pass commonsense gun safety legislation to save lives.

As we remember the many who were taken too soon by gun violence, we must honor their memories with action. Enough is enough.
