IN THE STATES: While Republicans Hide, Democrats Hold Trump and MAGA Republicans Accountable For Their Disastrous Agenda Hurting Working Families
April 18, 2025
Last week, the DNC, DCCC, and ASDC announced a second People’s Town Hall nationwide blitz as Republicans continue to hide from their constituents. Democrats are taking advantage of the April recess to meet voters in Republican districts and hold constituent-dodging Republicans accountable for voting to cut critical programs Americans rely on. The People’s Town Hall campaign aims to do what Republicans won’t – meet constituents face-to-face and listen to them.

Last Thursday, DNC Chair Ken Martin, alongside DNC Vice Chair for Civic Engagement & Voter Participation Reyna Walters-Morgan, North Carolina Democratic Party Chair Anderson Clayton, and North Carolina Representative Phil Rubin, hosted a press call as Jefferson Griffin and North Carolina Republicans continue their scheme to cherry pick voters long after Election Day in order to steal a fair and free election. During the call, the speakers highlighted that Justice Allison Riggs is the rightful winner of this election and reaffirmed Democrats’ commitment to defending against Republicans’ assaults on democracy and North Carolinians’ constitutional rights.

Meanwhile, Democrats continue to engage with local communities being ignored by their Republican congressional representatives at People’s Town Hall events nationwide. At each People’s Town Hall, the theme is clear: Voters are fed up with Trump, Elon Musk, and MAGA Republicans profiting off their backs.

On the other hand, after voting to prioritize billionaires over Americans’ health care, House Republicans are doubling down on their cowardly strategy to avoid in-person town halls during the April congressional recess. Meanwhile, at the rare town halls that do take place, GOP representatives are met with boos and jeers from angry constituents upset about Trump and Republicans’ shameful policies leaving them in the dust.
