Opposition To Trump’s Fake National Emergency Grows Among Republicans & National Security Experts

Nearly two dozen former Republican lawmakers urged their party to oppose Trump’s emergency declaration, and a bipartisan group of 58 national security experts confirmed “there is no factual basis” for Trump to declare an emergency to build his ineffective border wall. Democrats are holding Trump accountable and fighting to block his fake national emergency.

 

A bipartisan group of 58 former senior national security officials confirmed Trump’s national emergency is fake.

 

Washington Post: “A bipartisan group of 58 former senior national security officials will issue a statement Monday saying that ‘there is no factual basis’ for President Trump’s proclamation of a national emergency to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.”

 

Nearly two dozen former Republican lawmakers urged Republicans in Congress to vote to block Trump’s fake national emergency.

 

Politico: “Nearly two dozen former Republican members of Congress have penned an open letter to GOP lawmakers, urging them to reject President Donald Trump’s national emergency declaration to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border… They called on Republicans in Congress to ‘exercise restraint to protect the constitutional model … and to keep it from being sacrificed on the altar of expediency’ and ask them to ‘pass a joint resolution terminating the emergency declared by the President.’”

 

Democrats are holding Trump accountable and fighting back against his fake national emergency.

 

CNN: “House Democrats introduced a resolution Friday to block President Donald Trump’s effort to build a wall on the southern border through his emergency powers, setting up votes in Congress to rebuke the President’s proclamation, even though Trump has promised to veto the measure.”
