Tom Perez on GOP Health Care Vote Delay

WASHINGTON — DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement after Senate Republicans delayed voting on their health care bill, which would kick 22 million Americans off their insurance:

“While the American people sent a clear message to Senate Republicans and forced them to delay their vote to take away health care from 22 million people, this fight is far from over. We won’t stop making our voices heard as long as Republicans continue their efforts to strip Americans of one of their most basic rights: health care.

“This Republican repeal bill is unconscionably cruel and hurts women, children, older Americans and middle class families. Our elected leaders should be doing everything possible to ensure that more people have access to affordable coverage – not less.  Democrats will continue working to improve the ACA, and we will continue to organize, make calls and knock on doors to make it loud and clear that health care is a right for all, not a privilege for a wealthy few.”
