Trump Refuses To Do Anything To Fight COVID-19 And Sabotages Biden’s Ability To Lead As Pandemic Worsens

As this pandemic continues to worsen, Trump has not only refused to do anything to help, but he is also sabotaging President-elect Biden’s ability to lead on the coronavirus.

New coronavirus cases and hospitalizations broke all-time records yesterday, and deaths were the highest in over six months.

The COVID Tracking Project: “Our daily update is published. States reported 1.8 million tests, 183k cases, and 81k people currently hospitalized with COVID-19. Reported deaths were 1,971, the highest since May 7. Test, case, and hospitalization counts broke all-time records today.”

Weekly unemployment claims rose for the first time in five weeks, and remain well above pre-pandemic levels as the jobs recovery slows. 

Bloomberg: “Applications for U.S. state unemployment benefits rose for the first time in five weeks and remained well above pre-virus levels, suggesting the labor-market recovery is slowing amid a surging pandemic and fresh business restrictions.

Trump refuses to do anything to help and continues to jeopardize vaccine distribution by blocking President-elect Biden from receiving vaccine information.

Bloomberg: “The Trump administration has assured states they’ll have enough hospital beds and equipment to handle the alarming nationwide surge in coronavirus cases, but it isn’t advocating for additional measures to slow the virus’s spread and continues to shut out Joe Biden’s advisers.”

CNN: “The Health and Human Services Department will not work with President-elect Joe Biden’s team until the General Services Administration makes a determination that he won the election, Secretary Alex Azar said Wednesday, even as public health experts stress that a smooth transition is a critical part of the government’s response to the worsening coronavirus pandemic.”

Associated Press: “President-elect Joe Biden met Thursday with governors from both parties and criticized President Donald Trump’s unprecedented attempt to block the peaceful transition of power, saying it was hindering the flow of information about programs to develop a vitally important coronavirus vaccine.”

The Trump administration pulled the plug on emergency lending programs needed to support the economy as the pandemic continues to rage.
