DNC Statement on Trump Administration Raising Rents in South Carolina

After the announcement that the Department of Housing and Urban Development would increase rent by 26% on average in South Carolina on low-income Americans receiving federal housing subsidies, DNC Deputy Communications Director Sabrina Singh released the following statement:

“Yet again this administration is abandoning families that need our help the most. The services provided by HUD are designed to help families get back on their feet and reduce the risk of homelessness. With housing costs in South Carolina already soaring, HUD’s plan to increase rent will only make it more difficult for families in the Palmetto State to make ends meet. Instead of fighting for low-income Americans, Donald Trump and his administration want to make it harder for millions of families to find jobs and put a roof over their heads – South Carolina deserves better.”
