Under Shroud of Secrecy, Ed Gillespie Campaigned with Mike Pence in Virginia Today

Today Mike Pence appeared with Ed Gillespie at an event that has been notably absent from Gillespie’s official schedule. DNC spokesperson Elizabeth Renda issued the following statement in response:

“The GOP’s identity crisis has never been more evident. Today, Mike Pence campaigned for Ed Gillespie, who isn’t even publicizing the fact that a sitting vice president traveled to support him. Even stranger, the event was reportedly hosted at the home of an activist who said last summer that Trump ‘was not my first, second, or even third choice.’ While bizarre, none of this is surprising. From day one, Gillespie has attempted to slow-walk Trump’s endorsement, eventually leading to the fraught departure of his senior campaign staffer and former Trump campaign operative, Jack Morgan, as well as public division between Gillespie and his running mate, Jill Vogel, who has embraced Trump wholeheartedly. In all this murkiness, one thing is very clear: Gillespie is not willing to take a real stand for anyone, least of all the Virginia families he’s running to represent. Virginians need a leader in Richmond’s executive mansion, not a coward who can’t stand up to the toxic chaos of the Trump administration.”
